Going to Beaches - Carina’s Blog

I went to Golden Bay, Ghajn, Tuffieha and Gnejna Bay. Golden Bay is the most popular beach with Mellieha Bay. It’s a coastal beach with very nice landscapes and clear water. It’s very pleasant as I’m not used to a such weather to begin November.

Working on my English - Carina’s Blog

I spent a part of this day in a shop where a man works as a seller. I met him when I arrived in Malta and since that moment we have kept in touch. He helps me with pronunciation and corrects my sentences. It’s nice to speak English outside of School. Then, in the evening I went to Bugibba and Qawra.

End of 3rd Week at St. Paul’s Bay - Carina’s Blog

This is the end of my third week in St Paul’s Bay and I like the city more and more and am getting used to the ”Maltese life”. I don’t really miss my French life. What I miss the most is my family and what is funny is to be quieter than in France. It’s a good break to be alone for a short period of time.

Free Afternoon - Carina’s Blog

It‘s nice having a big part of my afternoon free to go and visit some places that I didn’t visit during the week because of bus times. I went to St Julian’s and Paceville - I wanted to visit these town by day as, until now, it was only by night. And I wanted to go to Bay Street, a leisure complex that offers a multitude of services to shoppers and diners.

New Teacher and New Friends - Carina’s Blog

Beginning of my third week. I had an English lesson with a new teacher, Marthese, three German students (whom two I met last week) and one Estonian. It was interesting to compare Sarah’s and Marthese’s teaching. In the afternoon, I helped the school to prepare for the upcoming workshop at ICEF Berlin.

In the evening, I went back to Bugibba with a friend. I like this town with cafes, restaurants and I enjoy walking on the “Promenade”.

Visiting Marsaxlokk and Bugibba - Carina’s Blog

The time changed to winter time this weekend.  In spite of one extra sleeping hour, I don’t like this period, because the days get shorter and the nights get longer - it’s sad.

I decided to visit the market of Marsaxlokk, I got up early because I wanted to be sure where was the bus station and I knew the trip by bus was long. I enjoyed this place and it’s nice to buy some gifts, clothes or local products. As a person who loves food, I bought some cakes - I was particularly attracted by a lemon nougat but tasting it I was disappointing.

After the market I went to Bugibba to see a person that I met in Malta on the beach ; We watched a film called “Dark”, and we decided to go for a coffee to have a drink. Then, he showed me the “Love Area”, the place in Bugibba where lovers meet.

The Malta Experience - Carina’s Blog

A place that I noted when I arrived was the Wignacourt Tower and I visited it. This Tower was built in 1610 by Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt and is the oldest surviving coastal defence post in Malta. Then, I went to Valletta to visit the “Malta Experience”: it’s an audio-visual attraction which can be listened to in 15 different languages; this show describes Malta’s amazing history. Then, I took the time to go and see recommended places in my tourist guide.

More Figolli for the People in Class! - Carina’s Blog

I have bought some figolli for all the people in the class, because I spoke with the two German girls and they wanted to taste a speciality from Malta. Greedy as me, they appreciated it too…….

During the working time, I worked on one the school’s databases.

In the evening, nothing interesting but compulsory things when someone lives alone (shopping, washing machine, cleaning) and I thought about possible activities to do in the next few days in Malta.

Maltese Specialities: Eating Figolli and Drinking Kinnie - Carina’s Blog

In the evening, I tasted a special cake in Malta called “figolli”. I was pleased as it’s the other speciality with Kinnie that I wanted to taste in Malta.

Then, I went to the cinema to see “Up”, a Walt Disney‘s cartoon. It was very nice and although I wasn’t motivated to see this cartoon in France, I don’t regret going at all.
